A zinc deficiency can be clearly detected only by the laboratory testing of blood. However, there are a number of symptoms that – in addition to increased susceptibility to infections – may indicate a zinc deficiency:
-
- Fatigue and lack of drive
- Decreasing physical performance
- Persistent states of exhaustion
- Depressive Stimmung
- Depressed mood
- Brittle nails
- Dry, scaly skin
- Wound healing disorders
Zinc deficiency can also lead to a hypofunction of the gonads, growth disorders, and anemia.
