What is folic acid?

What is folic acid?

Folic acid belongs to the group of B vitamins (vitamin B9). Folic acid is involved in the synthesis of genetic materials – without folic acid, human cells cannot divide. This is why it plays an important role in all growth and cell division processes. During pregnancy, folic acid is co-responsible for the healthy development of the child, particularly for the development of the central nervous system.
